Loving Art - What a Joy!

I worked in corporate and non-profit marketing for 40 years.  When I retired I was rudderless.  Several friends (including my dearest friend, Linda Hefter) suggested I consider becoming a docent.   I applied and was accepted into the docent program at the Art Institute of Chicago in 2012.  My volunteer work there has been life changing; I continue to learn and share art with young people.

I knew little about art when I joined the Art Institute.   But in looking at all the amazing works of art I suddenly began to think about trying art for myself.   I took four years of mosaic classes and then started print making and ceramic classes - all in the Chicago area.  In Arizona, I recently found a wonderful kiln glass artist in North Scottsdale, so I plan to spend my winters in her studio when I return.

I don’t call myself an artist – but then one day I overheard my granddaughter say, “My grandma is an artist.” – well, I guess I am!
