Host: Kari Hogden
Every Monday until April 14th
Drawing is the most important building block of all art! Just as we all learn to speak and walk, we are all capable of drawing. Kari will clear away impediments that keep you from exploiting this natural potential. There are short demonstrations and lessons to illustrate the focus of each class. You will learn:
How to see like an artist; How to draw and paint what you see and the knowledge to perfect that image; Learn to depict shape, form and volume; How to depict space and proportion; Understand perspective; How to understand positive and negative shapes; Learn about light, shade and tonal values; Learn how to depict rhythm and movement; How to be more imaginative.
Each artist will choose their own subject matter. Sketching and painting between classes will be encouraged but not mandatory. You will always receive feedback on your work, if desired.
Experienced artists will find that this class will rekindle their love of drawing and help them work in new ways to achieve their goals- such as drawing in preparation for painting. Painters are welcome to use paint as their main medium. The class will offer an atmosphere for creative expression, learning and fun.
