I have loved to draw since I was a child, but with life, family and career, I didn’t really focus on it until I retired about 15 years ago.  I took my first art lesson in pastel at age 62 ! Since then I have transitioned to oils, concentrating mostly on portraits and figures.

In 2009 we came to The Verdes!  I joined the art league and have been exploring a variety of art ever since. I took lessons from Eddie Lopez for a year and have taken advantage of many of the classes offered by VAL.    Draw Studio has been one of favorite activities and where I have not only learned so much, but also have met so many wonderful people.  By being in Arizona I have also been able to take some classes at Scottsdale Artist’s School.

Currently I am working on some portraits, exploring “flattening” and working in a different style, practicing contour drawing, and after taking Marz’ Doerflinger’s class, working on some abstracts!  Linda Berck’s class, that I took last winter, taught me to paint faster and looser.  I have spread my wings to include acrylics, pastels, and oils and now want to begin to learn more about collage.  The list is endless!

The Verdes Art League has open the doors to so many opportunities and friendships.
