I retired on November 2, 2020 and am looking forward to creating something other than spreadsheets!  I am a hobbyist, and basically a “jack of all trades, master of none” when it comes to art.

Art has always been part of my life, from taking art classes as a young child during the summers through our town’s summer art program, to classes in school through high school, my favorite of which was learning how to create a finished piece using a sand cast, plaster and powdered paints.  Art was one of my undergraduate majors in college, and I enjoyed working with clay, building by hand as well as using the potter’s wheel, acrylics, oils, charcoal, cray pas, batik, silver jewelry and various methods of screen printing.

In the past few years, I have been learning glass fusing techniques, including the basics of glass fusing, cutting circles, working with powders, creating textures, working thick, and coldworking techniques. I have also done “travel sketching” using oil pastels.  Most recently, I have trained with a talented artist in Cave Creek on verre eglomise techniques. This has led me to learn more about sandblasting on various types of glass, which I really enjoy!

Now that I’m retired, I am looking forward to learning other ways of creating art, as well as spending more time working with oils. And hopefully, a sandblast machine lies in my near future!
