I am a Michigan native and my husband, Tim, and I have been fortunate enough to spend the last 24 winters in Tonto Verde.
I began my art “career” learning the art of calligraphy which fit into my love of precision and realistic art. I am always ready to try a new medium and technique but my favorites are colored pencil, pen and ink (both of which are very controlled!), acrylics, pastels and watercolor (not so much control there). I love the classes that VAL offers—what a great way to learn more, share ideas and meet wonderful artists.
Besides drawing and painting when the mood and subject matter appeals, I have been creating our personal Christmas cards each year for 26 years using different mediums and holiday motifs, having the original reproduced, then embellishing the image and putting together the card itself. It can be a long process but I find it is my Christmas gift to myself.
