My Story
My name is Connie Lewis and I have been a Verde's Art League Member since the 90's. My husband, Dale, and I retired at a very young age. We came to the Verde's because my parents retired here and we liked the west.
I have a college degree in marketing but art has always peaked my interest. There are many artists and writers on both sides of my family. I have always worked with my hands, creating something, so in the 90's I started lessons with Eddie Lopez here in Rio Verde. At that time he was teaching a class of basics: drawing, different forms of painting. I began doing oil painting but loved the way watercolor moved on the paper.
I took a course on batik from Judy Patti out of Denver. I loved it so much I started teaching it because even a newcomer could enjoy the process and finish with a piece they could be proud to have. That made me feel I was contributing to that feeling.
I have taken classes from various artists and have attended Scottsdale Art School classes.
When I am in Arizona on a permanent basis I hope to be more involved and maybe even show my work. Last summer I sold 18 of my paintings while spending time in Estes Park, Colorado. It thrilled me that so many people appreciate what I love, love, love to do. It has been my great pleasure to know all of you members and your friendship has meant the world to me. Such a wonderful group! Hugs!
