I was born and raised in British Columbia and moved to the Phoenix Valley twenty-seven years ago. I have two visions of the natural world that influence my painting, that of the maritime and interior landscape of British Columbia  and that of the desert landscape of the Phoenix Valley.  I have used both visions in my painting.

After I retired, I had time to paint and although I paint in watercolor, oil, ink and pastel, watercolor is my favorite.  I also decorate houses  which seems to be of a piece with my art.  While living in North Scottsdale, I painted with the  Sonoran Art League and took part in numerous Hidden in the Hills art and studio tours.  After moving to the Verdes I began teaching watercolor classes through the Verdes Art League.

As a teacher, I use my own work and/or the work of well known painters, for instance Matisse or Vincent Martinez or Toni Onley, to inspire and instruct.  A classroom of students using the same image will produce individual paintings that reflect each of their palette and technique and painting personality.

I am or have been a member of the Verdes Art League, the Fountain Hills Art League and the Arizona Watercolor Society where I am a signature member.  I have been in numerous juried shows and have won awards over the years.  However, the greatest reward is being able to work with a room full of students who are eager to improve their art.
